Dorothea Fischer-Nosbisch

Dorothea Fischer-Nosbisch (born April 16, 1921 in Bad Kreuznach , † April 29, 2009 in Darmstadt ) was a German graphic artist and stamp artist.

Life

In 1937 she began her studies at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. There she met her future husband Fritz Fischer, with whom she founded a studio community after the war in 1945 and worked in particular for Atlas Film . Her best-known works include posters for the movies Das Schweigen (1964), The Blue Angel (1964), Noon (1959), Dear John (1965) and The 7th Year Itch (1966).

They developed and implemented novel concepts for film marketing in collaboration with designer friends such as Heinz Edelmann , Karl Oskar Blase , Bele Bachem , Isolde Monson-Baumgart and Jan Lenica . In 1964 the posters were recognized as one of the 100 best posters . Together they initiated the founding of the novum design group in 1958 .

In 1967 she separated from Fritz Fischer professionally and privately. She then designed several postage stamps for the Deutsche Bundespost ( 1976 , 1984 and 1991 ). She worked as an art teacher in Frankfurt and as a freelance artist.
