Dorotha Fischer creates non-objective watercolors and paintings , often interspersed with pigments , and acrylic paintings on linen in the tradition of informal painting , which are reminiscent of Mark Rothko . In doing so, Fischer translates his own emotional state into immaterial, strongly colored images that reveal small traces of impermanence through deliberate damage and aggressive work with ink , chalk and spatula . Several layers of color applied one on top of the other create very own compositions that constantly communicate with one another. In cool shades, an arc of tension is created between the individual color fields and further intensified by proximity and contrast as well as by the different sizes of the color fields. The colored areas are seldom geometrically exactly to one another. They are an expression of a painting that lives through its colourfulness and suggests spaciousness through its color and areas.

Dorothea Fischer signs her pictures with D. Fischer .

  • "The colors themselves, the colorants, their application on the canvas, the unfolding radiation and tension between the color fields as well as the transitions between them, that is what always attracts and fascinates me"
