Dorothee Schlegel (born April 27, 1959 in Rommelshausen (today part of Kernen im Remstal )) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Schlegel completed an apprenticeship as a Protestant religious educator and deacon at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigsburg . In Stuttgart she worked as a deacon and religion teacher. From 1992 to 1997 she studied at the University of Stuttgart linguistics and sociology , 2004 doctorate it to the University of Mannheim in the subject Linguistics with a thesis on tenses in spoken language . She was a consultant at the Turkish Consulate General in Stuttgart, lecturer at several universities, and from 2006 onwards, she worked for Frank Mentrup . In addition, she has been volunteering as a predicant since 2008 and as chairwoman of the Mosbach e. V. active. Schlegel is a member of the advisory board of the Stuttgart-Filder e.V., which she co-founded in 1992 . V.

politics

Dorothee Schlegel has been a member of the SPD since 2001. In Billigheim , where she now lives with her husband, she ran for the office of mayor in 2009, but with 37.9% in the second ballot was behind the incumbent Reinhold Berberich (43.6%). In the 2010 mayoral election in neighboring Neckargerach , she was second in the second ballot with 45.4% of the votes, behind the CDU candidate Norman Link (54.1%).

She has been a member of the Neckar-Odenwald district council since 2009 .

In the federal elections in 2013 and 2017 , she ran in the constituency of Odenwald - Tauber and on the Baden-Württemberg state list of the SPD. While she was subject to the CDU candidate Alois Gerig in each constituency , in 2013 she succeeded in entering the Bundestag via the state list . There she was a member of the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women and Youth and the Committee on European Union Affairs . In 2017, however, her place on the list was not enough to return to parliament.
