Douglas ("Doug") Lewis (born January 18, 1964 in Waitsfield , Vermont ) is a retired American ski racer . He almost exclusively drove races in the downhill discipline . Today he works as an entrepreneur and television presenter.

biography

In 1981 Lewis first took part in a World Cup race at the age of 17 . He got his first World Cup points three years later when he was ninth on the downhill in Whistler . Also in 1984 he finished 24th in the Olympic Downhill in Sarajevo . Lewis' most successful year followed: at the 1985 World Championships in Bormio , somewhat surprisingly, he won the bronze medal downhill. On August 16, 1985 he reached second place in Las Leñas ; it was his only podium finish. With these achievements he could not quite keep up in the following seasons.

After the 1988 Winter Olympics , Lewis retired. He studied small business economics at the University of Vermont for four years . Since then he has held numerous positions in the ski industry. He and his wife Kelley Lewis host magazine programs on the Resort Sports Network television channel . He also appears at major events as a racing analyst for NBC and FOX . In the summer, his company holds Elite Team training camps.
