Douglas beaver
Douglas Edward Biber (born August 5, 1952 ) is an American linguist .
Life
Biber received his PhD in Linguistics from the University of Southern California in 1984 . In 2000 he received an honorary doctorate from Uppsala University . He is Regents' Professor of Applied Linguistics at Northern Arizona University .
He researched the veracity of a quote from Daniel Wemp in the rich and poor and thereby triggered claims for damages against Jared Diamond in the amount of 10 million US dollars .
