The Dr.-Julius-Leber-Straße 25 building is a listed historical building in Lübeck .

description

The building on Dr.-Julius-Leber-Straße (formerly Johannisstraße ) consists of two houses, which are located behind a common facade and thus give the impression of a single building. The eastern house dates back at least to the years 1322/23, as parts of the roof structure (which is also one of the oldest in Lübeck) can be traced back to this time. The councilor Johann Segeberg lived here from the beginning to the middle of the 15th century . The western house has existed since 1487 at the latest, as can be deduced from a preserved original floor ceiling .

Around 1600 the building was rebuilt in the style of the Renaissance ; There are also preserved wall paintings from that time . At the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries , the semi-detached house received its common plastered classicist facade that still exists today . The fact that there are actually two separate buildings behind it can be seen from the different distribution of the windows in both halves.

The building, which belonged to the mayor of Lübeck Gotthard von Hoeveln until 1590 , changed owners and uses on various occasions. In the 19th century it served successively as a Swedish post office , brewery and finally as an event house under the name Monopol . From 1919 to 1995 the Central Cinema was located in the building ; today it houses a theater .

The exterior of the building has been a listed building since 1970.
