Gentlemen in the bathroom is one of Loriot's most famous skits . The cartoon sketch was first broadcast on June 15, 1978 as part of the Loriot V program on Radio Bremen .

The protagonists , two clearly well-off middle-aged men named Müller-Lüdenscheidt and Dr. Klöbner , sit together in a bathtub belonging to a hotel room , initially without water. Because Dr. Klöbner, who had made a mistake in the room number and, in the opinion of Mr. Müller-Lüdenscheidt, is sitting in a "third-party bathtub" and who attaches great importance to letting the water in his bathtub himself, he had this from Dr. Klöbner drained water first. The gentlemen introduce themselves and then agree on both the water intake and the water temperature . Then Dr. Klöbner has to put his rubber duck in the water (“I always bathe with this duck!”), Which Mr. Müller-Lüdenscheidt vehemently rejects (“Not with me!”). However, Müller-Lüdenscheidt's plan to drain the water again fails because he is now sitting on the plug . After finally giving in on the duck question, Dr. But Klöbner has insulted him, he threatens to go underground until Dr. Klöbner let the duck into the water. The rubber duck, the central figure of this sketch, was laid as a reminiscence in large numbers by fans on Loriot's tombstone in the Heerstrasse forest cemetery in Berlin.

The German Post AG in 2011 brought a charity stamp out worth 55 + 25 cents with a drawing of Loriots cartoon.

The character Müller-Lüdenscheidt contributed to the popularity of the city of Lüdenscheid . In a shopping arcade near the town hall square there is a monument by the sculptor Frijo Müller-Belecke , which Müller-Lüdenscheidt and Dr. Represents Klöbner in the bathtub. In 2017, a replica of the sketch was inaugurated in Münsing, Upper Bavaria . Loriot lived in the village since 1963 and is also an honorary citizen of the community.
