Dr. Otto Kasten Foundation

The Dr. Otto Box Foundation is one of Otto Box 1962 launched Foundation , which awards the Otto Box price for illustrative junior staff.

It is named after the German actor, dramaturge, director and artistic director Otto Kasten. Originally, the foundation was intended to help financially needy or sick theater directors and their relatives. Since public social aid improved significantly in the following years, more funds were available, so that in September 1985 the Dr. Otto Kasten Prize was awarded for the first time.

The Dr. Otto Kasten Prize is the "German Intendants' Prize".

Young theater artists who, however, should not be older than 35 years of age are eligible for the award . Proposed by the board of directors in the Deutsches Bühnenverein , the board of the foundation decides on the winner. The prize is awarded by the chairman of the artistic directors' group. Along with the Iffland-Ring , this is probably the most important German theater award . The sponsorship award is endowed with € 10,000.
