biography

Steve Dekker was born in the Netherlands in 1988 and grew up in the small town of Limmen. He got into hardcore techno at the age of nine by listening to old Thunderdome compilations. In the following years he dealt with gabber . He formed his own Frenchcore style from albums by The Speed Freak , The Sickest Squad , Psiko and DJ Radium, the latter of which particularly attracted him with the "reversed bass kicks", which reminded him of the early hardstyle , but in one faster shape and with more distortion at the end of each kick. At the age of 12 he started mixing music for the first time and organized several evening events in Limmen and in the “Innercore” club in Castricum .

His first participation in a major event took place in 2010 when he performed as a DJ at the “Beter Kom Je Niet” festival in Culemborg . This gig marked the beginning of his popularity, and that same year he began producing music. In 2013 he founded his own independent music label Peacock Records . In 2014 he worked on DJ Angerfist's album The Deadfaced Dimension .

In 2016, Dr. Peacock invited to take part in renowned festivals such as Defqon.1 , Dominator , Decibel, Q-Base or Harmony of Hardcore. In February 2017 he put on "TOXIC EXPERIENCE # 2" and in April in the Hard Factory, the congress center in Épinal . On May 6, 2017, he played with Le Bask and Angerfist at the Insane Festival in Toulouse . In October 2017 he took part in Edition Lucifer's Legions of the Ghosttown Festival.

style

Dr. Peacock is seen as the DJ who made Frenchcore popular in the Netherlands, mainly because of its regular appearances at the Vive la Frenchcore festival. Still, as he himself admits, he's not exactly popular with old Frenchcore fans:

“Je sais que j'ai lancé un style totalement différent, et que les vieux aficionados des années 2002 à 2010 peuvent le haïr. J'ai sciemment changes le style parce qu'il fallait l'évolution du genre. A la base, j'ai fais mon propre 'Peacock style'. »

“I know that I started a completely different style and that the old aficionados from 2002 to 2010 can hate it. I knowingly changed the style because it required an evolution in the genre. Basically I made my own 'peacock style'. "
