action

Long ago people lived in fear of a dragon, to which they sacrificed their daughters in order to appease it. The dragon kidnapped her to his island from where none of the daughters ever returned. One day a man followed the dragon that had kidnapped his lover and killed the monster.

Miroslava is to be married to Igor, the grandson of the dragon slayer. Igor insisted that the song of the dragon be sung at the wedding, after which the dragon appears for the first time in decades, kidnaps Miroslava and takes him to Dragon Island. Igor decides to leave and kill the dragon. On the island, Miroslava falls from the dragon's clutches and falls into a cave where she meets a man whom she calls Arman. He says he has been living on the island for a long time and that there is no escape from there. When Miroslava shakes hands with Arman, the dragon reappears, Arman disappears and Miroslava is able to escape from the cave. Miroslava meets Arman again and begins to question his motives, since he can apparently move freely on the island. As she shrinks from Arman, she falls from a cliff and is rescued by Arman, who can turn into a dragon. However, Arman is seriously injured in the fall and Miroslava treats his wounds with some reluctance at first. She becomes friends with Arman more and more and learns that the dragon killed by Igor's grandfather was Arman's father, and that the dragons sacrifice the women on an altar in order to multiply their species by burning them alive and from the ashes a new dragon emerges. Through an experience in his childhood, Arman tries to suppress the dragon in him, because in his opinion it is just a wild beast. Miroslava promises to show Arman to live like a human until Igor arrives, so that the dragon and thus Arman do not have to be killed. In return, Arman shows her how to make fireworks and how to see the wind. Miroslava uses this knowledge to secretly build a boat to escape from the island. When Arman finds out about this he is angry at first, but then tells Miroslava that she should leave immediately, because he knows that the dragon cannot be suppressed forever.

After leaving the island, Miroslava meets Igor, who is looking for Dragon Island with his ship in the fog. Back in Miroslava's homeland, everything is being prepared for the wedding again, while Arman wants to throw himself off a cliff on Dragon Island because he no longer wants to live without Miroslava. In the middle of the wedding ceremony, Miroslava begins to sing the song of the dragon, realizing that she loves Arman and not Igor. After a while the dragon appears, brings her back to the island and wants to sacrifice her on the altar. At the last moment, Miroslava kisses the dragon, which makes it lose its malevolence. Years later, Miroslava and Arman have a daughter, to whom they tell the story of the kite.
