In 2017 the game was ported for the Nintendo Switch . In addition, the game is to appear for Google's cloud gaming service Google Stadia . It is the sequel to Dragon Ball Xenoverse .

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has been shipped more than 1.4 million times worldwide. As of November 27, 2016, 87,105 units of the PlayStation 4 version of the game had been sold in Japan. The Nintendo Switch version of the game debuted at number three on the Japanese sales charts, with 24,045 copies sold. By 2018, the Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse had sold 2,500,000 times worldwide. By the end of March 2019, it had been sold over 5 million times across all platforms worldwide.

On the rating website Metacritic , the PlayStation 4 version of the game - based on 57 ratings - has a Metascore of 72 out of 100 possible points. The German-language online magazine 4Players rated the game with 62 out of a possible 100 points and awarded the brand “satisfactory”.
