Dragon Nest is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game ( MMORPG ) from the Korean developer studio Eyedentity Games. It was released on March 4, 2010 in South Korea. In Europe it is distributed by the Eschborn publisher Shanda Games International under the title Dragon Nest Europe and was published on March 6, 2013.

Gameplay

control

In Dragon Nest, the characters are controlled from a third-person perspective using a dynamic non-targeting system, in which the figure is moved using WASD and opponents in battles are targeted using crosshairs.

Classes and character development

There are seven playable hero classes in Dragon Nest: Warrior, Archer, Cleric, Sorceress, Academician, Kali and Assasin. The classes differ in terms of their abilities, the type of weapons used and the basic equipment. Fighting and completing quests collect points with which the characters can be upgraded. Each class can also choose further specializations within their talent tree as the game progresses.

Game modes

Quest system

In Dragon Nest, orders from NPCs are managed, with a distinction between main and side quests. Main quests serve to advance the storyline, side quests are optional, but give experience points and items as a reward .

Dungeons

Quests are completed in instantiated areas. Based on character level or group size, the level of difficulty can be selected before entering the dungeon , a higher level of difficulty is rewarded with more experience points and better items. Each dungeon consists of different areas that are connected by portals. In the last area of a dungeon, the player expects a boss .

Nests

The so-called nests represent a main element of the game. These special dungeons contain particularly powerful opponents and offer rare and valuable items if they are successfully completed. Some nests can only be entered in groups, there are also certain entry requirements and weekly game limits.

Player versus player

PvP battles take place outside of cities and dungeons and can be played out from character level 10. In the Colosseum, players can compete against each other in different modes. So that battles are not dependent on the equipment of the players, the level characteristics of the characters are adjusted in most PvP modes. This is to ensure that the skill and tactics of the players determine the outcome of the fight.

Farms

In Dragon Nest, players can prepare dishes by fishing and growing plants. The cooked meals provide buffs that are beneficial in combat.

Business model

Dragon Nest is a free-to-play game. H. it can be downloaded and played for free from the internet without paying monthly fees. The in-game currency T-Cash can be purchased for real money and exchanged for various virtual goods.

"Overall, Dragon Nest is a fun game that has an extremely flexible and dynamic combat system. (...) Overall Score: 80/100 - Good"

- Ten ton hammer

“Dragon Nest EU does a lot of things right and hardly anything wrong, although the really innovative ideas are missing. While the inner workings of the heroes in particular, in the form of character creation and development, suffered, you can see that the effort went into aspects such as the story or dealing with the players. (...) Overall rating 73% "
