Dragutin Tadijanović (born November 4, 1905 in Rastušje near Slavonski Brod , † June 27, 2007 in Zagreb ) was a Croatian- speaking writer .

Life

He began to write at the age of 13. He published several poems in 1922 under the pseudonym Margan Tadeon . In 1925 he finished high school in Slavonski Brod and then studied at the University of Zagreb first forestry ; In 1937 he graduated there in literature and philosophy .

For some time he worked on translations of literary works from the Czech and German languages . In 1953 he was appointed director of the Yugoslav linguistic institute JAZU . He stayed there for twenty years until 1973.

He published over 500 poems in about 20 collections, and his works have been translated into over 20 languages. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the City of Zagreb Prize (1964), the “Vladimir Nazor” prize for life's work (1968), the Marko Marulić plaque from the Čakavski sabor ( Čakavian People's Assembly), a cultural event (1972 ) and the Slavonski Brod Prize for Lifetime Achievement (1998). He was an honorary member of several cultural associations , associations or institutions , as well as an honorary citizen of Zagreb , Slavonski Brod , etc.

At the end of June 2007, Tadijanović died in Zagreb at the age of 101 and was buried in the Mirogoj cemetery .
