Drei Hasen in der Abendsonne is a German games and book publisher that was founded in 2008. The publishing program of the small publishing house consists of individual books and board games by various authors.
history
The publishing house Drei Hasen in der Abendsonne was founded in 2008 by Kathi Kappler and Johann Rüttinger . Together with Rolf Vogt , they had founded the game publisher Drei Magier Spiele in 1994 and managed it very successfully until it was "friendly handover" to Schmidt Spiele for professionalization in 2008. The background to the sale was Rüttinger's health problems and the fear that the good established publishing house could no longer be adequately maintained as a small publishing house. Rolf Vogt continues to work as an illustrator for numerous games at Drei Magier / Schmidt Spiele.
Three Bunnies in the Evening Sun initially focused on children's books by various authors, but the operators found it difficult to establish themselves in this closed market. One of the first books was the English-language A Portrait of Nellie by the well-known American game designer Alexander Randolph . Due to the low level of success, the management decided in 2012 to sell games again.
In 2013 Bim Bamm! in the recommendation list of the children's game of the year and in 2014 Raben stapeln from the publishing house was awarded the Austrian game prize Spiel der Spiele with the “special prize for toddler games”. The game Die fiesen 7 was included in the recommendation list of the game award game of the year in 2016 and in 2019 the game Monster-Gang was also on the recommendation list of the children's game of the year.
