action

"Grandfather from the fairy tale" gives three wishes to the doctor of rights Peter Holetschek because he offered him his seat on the bus. Peter recklessly forgets two of the wishes because he doesn't really believe in his skill, but then he hits the mark: "I just wish that Vera and I live happily!" And the miracle overtakes him - his own apartment, a car, carriage. But with each fulfillment, new desires are awakened. In addition, Peter has to recognize that a fulfillment granted to him means disappointment and limitation for his fellow men. When his friend Karl gets into serious trouble - he is to be fired because he criticized the company and thus the state too frankly in a television quiz - Peter too falls into a conflict of conscience: his standing up for Karl can mean that he too will take up his position and loses all advantages gained.

The exit remains open; Peter, Vera and Peter's parents sit helplessly around the bell with which they can call "Grandfather" to announce their decision ...

criticism

"A cheerful, poetic fairy tale in the realistic" backdrop "of Prague, with ironic and critical swipes at everyday socialist life in the CSSR."

"In the timeless guise of a fairy tale, the directors Kadar and Klos mockingly judge the realities of our time. Design and presentation recommend the film to film fans from 14 years on. "
