history

In October 1950, the Protestant parish Buckow-Ost was founded, which in 1972 was renamed the Evangelical Trinity Parish Berlin-Buckow after several incorporations of neighboring parishes . The Holy Trinity served as the namesake . Due to the strong growth of the community, the chapel used up until then became too small, so that from 1955 the construction of a new church building was accelerated. The location of the new church should be in the immediate vicinity of the provisionally used chapel at Rudower Straße 120, so that the community-owned property on Rudower Straße / Heroldweg (today: Lipschitzallee) was selected. The foundation stone was laid on May 15, 1969. The church consecration took place on June 20, 1971.

Building

The competition was for a church building with an adjoining day care center . The architect Reinhold Barwich convinced with his design for a central church with three rooftops. Three shield walls made of reinforced concrete are galleries attached, with which the space is very versatile. In addition to being used in a church, it is particularly suitable for theater and music performances. In 1971 the European premiere of George Tabori's play Pinkville took place in the Trinity Church.

Furnishing

The hexagonal floor plan includes a central room with the altar in the middle and the pulpit on the side. The organ located on one of the galleries is also used during music events . Your disposition can be viewed at Orgel Databank . The pulpit was moved in the main axis under the organ.

The naming of the building complex is also evident in the three facilities: the Evangelical Lutheran parish, the Protestant day care center and the Diakonie on the site around the Trinity Church.

Church life

Since 2009, all areas have been working on cooperating as equally as possible. The inclusion will be actively pursued here: Additions are largely barrier-free , in the church inductive hearing loop installed, Textafeln is also available in Braille , pictograms facilitate general orientation. People with disabilities work on the community council or sing in the choirs. Church services and festivals are celebrated together, lunches and dance events are organized for all interested parties.

The church furnishings are used by the non-profit association Laib und Seele as a distribution point for the Berliner Tafel .
