Drew Karpyshyn (born July 28, 1971 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a Canadian novelist and storyline writer for video games .

Life

Karpyshyn grew up in St. Albert near his hometown. He wrote most of the history of the award-winning Star Wars game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and was involved in the making of the Baldur's Gate series. At BioWare's game Mass Effect , he was primarily responsible for the script of a game for the first time . In addition to BioWare, Karpyshyn was also employed by Wizards of the Coast . In February 2009, the industry magazine Gamasutra ranked him among the 20 most important computer game authors. In February 2012, he left BioWare to devote himself entirely to novel writing. He wrote u. a. several Star Wars novels . He is currently focusing on writing his own fantasy novel Children of Chaos and lives with his wife Jennifer in Austin, Texas .
