The Driftwood River (English for "driftwood river") is a 57 km long left tributary of the Black River in the north of the Canadian province of Ontario .
The Driftwood River has its origin in Lipsett Lake at an elevation of about 1,000 feet . For the first 20 km it flows north to Moose Lake . It leaves this on its east bank and continues to flow in a northerly direction through the boreal landscape of the Canadian Shield . At the settlement of Shillington , 25 km above the estuary, the Ontario Highway 101 crosses the river. The Ontario Highway 11 ( Trans-Canada Highway ) crosses the river south of Monteith . There is a weir at Monteith. Above this there is a water level. The catchment area at this point covers 537 km². The mean water level above the weir is 260.8 m. The Driftwood River finally flows 9 km south-southeast of Iroquois Falls into the Black River, one kilometer above its mouth into the Abitibi River . The Abitibi River dammed the Driftwood River back to Monteith. The bottom four kilometers of the river are in Abitibi-De-Troyes Provincial Park .
