Drosera brevicornis is a carnivorous plant from the sundew family( Droseraceae ). It occurs exclusively in from Palmerston to Kakadu National Park in the Australian Northern Territory .

description

In Drosera brevicornis is a perennial herbaceous plant , the individual indigenous rosettes and a fibrous root forms. The leaves lie flat on the ground, the petioles are inverted-lanceolate, 15 to 20 millimeters long, at the base 1.5 to 3 and at the base of the blade 0.9 to 2 millimeters wide, weak on the upper side and on the underside densely hairy. The round leaf blades are 4 to 5 millimeters long and 4 to 5 millimeters wide, on the top and bottom they are densely hairy.

Flowering time is March to April. The one to four inflorescence axes are 30 to 40 centimeters long and carry 25 or more flowers in a cluster , the flower stalks are 2 to 3 millimeters long. The sepals are inverted ovate, woolly hairy, 5 to 6 millimeters long and 2.5 to 3 millimeters wide. The petals are pink or white, inversely ovate and around 10 millimeters long and around 7 millimeters wide.

The stamens are 4.5 millimeters long. The ovary is obovate and 1.5 to 1.7 millimeters long. The three styluses , including the scars, are 2 millimeters long.

distribution

The area from Palmerston to Kakadu National Park in the Australian Northern Territory is home to Drosera brevicornis . There it grows on gravel slopes or in shallow depressions. It is considered common and therefore not endangered.

Systematics

The species was first described in 1996 by Allen Lowrie , it belongs to the so-called "Petiolaris complex", which forms the Lasiocephala section of the genus.
