description

The two two-story buildings of Drostenhof are made of brick . The oldest part is the gatehouse from 1545, decorated with oriels . With the pointed arched gate passage, the design of the entrance portal and the pinnacle gables, it still shows predominantly late Gothic features . Behind it is the manor house built in 1557 . Its two stepped gables are decorated with palmettes in the style of the early Renaissance . The gable triangles are structured horizontally and vertically by bevels and pilaster strips . The brick walls are decorated with glazed bricks with diamond-shaped patterns. A slender stair tower is in front of the facade.

The Drostenhof is owned by the Graf von Merveldt family (noble family) , who led the office of Drosten zu Wolbeck for generations and had a very close relationship with Wolbeck since 1389. The Drostenhof still shapes the townscape today.

Part of the Drostenhof housed the West Prussian State Museum until the end of August 2012 .
