The House Park is a American football - stadium and football stadium in the US American city Austin in the state of Texas .
history
The stadium is located near the old Austin High School campus and was built in 1939. The building land donated the diplomat and politician Edward Mandell House ; he was the foreign policy advisor to US President Woodrow Wilson . Later it dedicated the plant to the fallen of the Austin High School in the First and Second World War . The stadium has two uncovered concrete stands. Since 2008 the playing field has been made of artificial turf . Unlike many other high school stadiums, it lacks an athletics facility .
Today the venue is used by Austin High School, Anderson High School, Lanier High School, Eastside Memorial High School and McCallum High School. Mainly the school's football games are played in the stadium, but football or lacrosse also take place there.
Home Park was selected in August 2009 as the new venue for the Austin Aztex football team of the D2 Pro League ; after playing for a year at Nelson Field at Reagan High School. The Aztex planned to play at House Park from the start as it is close to the city center. Because of the outdated facilities, they turned to Nelson Field. Work on the stadium began at the end of 2009. New changing rooms were built on the north side. After two seasons in House Park, the Austin Aztex came to an end in October 2010. The franchise agreement went to Orlando City ( USL Pro ) in Florida .
In 2011 a team was founded under the name Austin Aztex . Since the 2012 season, they played their home games in the USL Premier Development League in House Park.
