Bronislaw Suchanek
Bronisław Suchanek (* the 30th August 1948 in Bielsko-Biała ) is a Polish jazz - bassist .
Live and act
Bronisław Suchanek studied double bass at the Musikhochschule from 1967 and played in the Silesian Jazz Quartet during this time . In 1971 he began working with the pianist Mieczysław Kosz . He became known beyond Poland through his play in the band of Tomasz Stańko , with whom he recorded albums such as Music for K (1970), toured in Central Europe and in 1973 appeared at the Jazz Jamboree . Suchanek was also a member of the Jazz Studio Orchestra of the Polish Radio under the direction of Jan Wróblewski . In the late 1970s he worked in Scandinavia; So in 1977 he recorded George Russell's Vertical Form VI on Soul Note with the Swedish Radio Jazz Orchestra . Since 1976 he has been part of the Sound of Flowers formation with Fredrik Norén , Rune Carlsson , Bobo Stenson , Bjarne Roupé and Roland Keijser .
In the early 1980s Suchanek played in various projects in Germany and Austria, such as in Joe Nays Formation Message , in the GAP Band (1983) and in the formation Oriental Wind from Okay Temiz . In the mid-1980s he went on tour with the Polski Jazz Ensemble around Leszek Zadlo . In the early 1990s he taught at the Maine School of Music. In 2009 he recorded the duo album Sketch in Blue with the pianist Dominik Wania . In the same year he performed at the Cracow Jazz All Souls' Day Festival a . a. with Joachim Kühn at the Polish premiere of Zbigniew Seifert's jazz concert for violin, symphony orchestra and rhythm section.
Suchanek lives in Milton near Boston , USA.
