Bjarne Roupé (born December 12, 1952 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish jazz guitarist and composer .

Live and act

Roupé played in the fusion group Egba since 1974 , with whom he released three albums, and since 1976 in Sounds of Flowers with Bronisław Suchanek , Bobo Stenson , Rune Carlsson , Roland Keijser and Fredrik Norén . In 1979 he moved to Copenhagen , where he has lived ever since.

In Denmark he first appeared with the band Alpha Centauri (to which Palle Mikkelborg , Jørgen Emborg , Bo Stief and Ole Theill belonged), with whom he also recorded an album. From 1980 he worked on productions of the Danish Radio Jazz Group (such as the album Aura with Miles Davis ). In 1983 he formed his own trio (with Bo Stief and Alex Riel ), and since 2002 he has led his own quartet. He also played with the groups of Jan Kaspersen , Palle Mikkelborg, Uffe Markussen, Marilyn Mazur , Ed Epstein and Niels Ryde and was also active as a studio musician. Since 1993 he has been involved in various projects by Michael Mantler , with whom he also appeared at the Moers Festival in 2015 .

Between 1996 and 2012 he taught guitar as an Associate Professor at the Rytmisk Music Conservatory .
