Jean-Baptiste Drouet, comte d'Erlon (born July 29, 1765 in Reims , † January 25, 1844 in Paris) was a French general and Marshal of France .

Life

Drouet d'Erlon came after he had served in the Royal Army five years in 1792 in a battalion of volunteers one was adjutant of General Lefebvre and made the campaigns from 1793 to 1796 with.

After the capitulation of Paris, Drouet withdrew behind the Loire . He then fled to Bavaria , ostracized by the July 24th order, and lived near Bayreuth . He was appointed Marshal in May 1843 and died on January 25, 1844.

Honors

His name is entered on the triumphal arch in Paris in the 14th column (DROUET). In Reims a statue was erected for him on the square named after him.
