The Druzhba Sports Palace ( Ukrainian Палац спорту "Дружба" ) is a multifunctional hall in the Ukrainian city of Donetsk . Currently, the Hockey Club are HC Donbass of the KHL and the basketball team of BC Donetsk ( Ukrainian Basketball Superleague ) located at the Sports Palace. The hall offers 4100 places for ice hockey games, 3500 of which are seats. There are 4,700 places for basketball games.

The hall was inaugurated in 1976. After minor work in 2003, the Arena in 2010 a major renovation was for the Ice Hockey World Championship U18 juniors 2011 - Division II B subjected. Among other things, the hall got a new cooling system for the ice surface, air conditioning , a video surveillance system and a video cube . Furthermore, a fan shop and fast food stands were set up and all the seating in the stands was renewed. This increased the number of places from 3500 to 4100. In addition, office space was created for the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
The pole vault event Pole Vault Stars has been held in the arena once a year since 2004 . The founder of the meeting, which was held for the first time in 1990, is Serhij Bubka , who set the indoor world record valid until 2014 with 6.15 meters at the event on February 21, 1993. Jelena Issinbayeva improved the pole vault indoor world record in the Donetsk Arena on February 15, 2009, first to 4.97 meters and then increased it to 5.00 meters.
The Donbass Open Cup ice hockey tournament has been held in the Sports Palace since 2011 .
On the night of May 26, 2014, the ice rink was stormed, looted and then set on fire by pro-Russian separatists from the Donetsk People's Republic during the crisis in Ukraine . Plasma screens , furnishings and a car , among other things , were stolen from the HK Donbass Donetsk venue . In addition, safes were broken into and emptied and the building's security technology was destroyed. According to the club owner Borys Kolesnikow , the hall should be restored within three months of the start of the new KHL season.
