Dschamtsangiin Damdinsiiren ( Mongolian Жамцангийн Дамдинсүрэн ) (* 1898 in Sain Noyon Khan aimag in Outer Mongolia , Imperial China , † 1938 in the Mongolian People's Republic ) was a Mongolian politician, a member of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) and decent head of state of Mongolia from November 16, 1927 to January 23, 1929. He was the victim of Stalinist terror .

Life

Damdinsüren was born in Sain-Noyon-Khan-Aimag (today Dsawchan-Aimag ). As a child he learned the Tibetan language and studied classical Mongolian writing . When he was 16, he was employed by the local government. In 1923 he became chief of staff of the new district in what is now Uliastai .

In 1925 he was elected delegate for the IV Congress of the Mongolian Revolutionary Youth League (MRJL). At this congress he became a member of the Presidium and head of the Central Committee of the MRJL.

At the 5th MRVP party congress he became a member of the Great Chural , which in turn elected him a member of the Little Chural.

On the occasion of the VI. At the party congress in early 1927, he was re-elected chairman of the MRJL and a member of the central committee of the MRVP. The Central Committee elected him a member of the Presidium of the MRVP, and he was then elected its chairman, making him head of state of the Mongolian People's Republic. He held this position from January 16, 1927 to January 23, 1929.

In 1928, the 7th MRVP party congress heralded the "Left Period", an aggressive policy to implement Soviet-inspired restructuring of society such as faster collectivization , land expropriation and persecution of the Buddhist church. Under pressure from Soviet advisers, he was replaced by the more docile Chorloogiin Tschoibalsan , who was appointed chairman of the Little Chural, i.e. head of state. He became Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and then Minister of Livestock.

In 1930, during the Eighth Party Congress, he was relieved of his duties as a member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the MRVP and head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee's Secretariat. During the collectivization campaigns 1930–1931 he returned to the Dzawchan Aimag as community secretary and director of a collective farm . From 1931 to 1934 he worked in Ulaanbaatar as general secretary of the cooperatives, but then went back to Dzawchan to head the department of local cooperative production.

From 1934 to 1938 he was the second deputy chief of staff of the Dzawchan-Aimag and head of the livestock department.

In 1938 he was charged with counterrevolutionary activity during Chorloogiin Tschoibalsan's Great Terror (1937-1939) and executed shortly afterwards. He was rehabilitated in 1959.
