Dušan Džamonja (born January 31, 1928 in Strumica , Kingdom of Yugoslavia , † January 14, 2009 in Zagreb ) was a Yugoslav or Croatian sculptor .

Life

Dušan Džamonja studied at the Art Academy in Zagreb. In 1951 he received his diploma from Vanja Radauš (1906–1973), after which he enrolled as a master student in the master workshop of Professor Frano Kršinić . 1952 to 1953 Džamonja undertook study trips to Paris and Italy . From 1953 he worked in his own studio. In 1954 he had his first solo exhibition. In 1970 he built his house and studio with atelier and created his sculpture park in Vrsar . He was invited to the Venice Biennale in 1960 and to documenta III in Kassel in 1964 in the sculpture department .

From 1965 to 1967 the monument to the revolution of the inhabitants of Moslavina in Podgarić was created according to his designs and from 1971 to 1972 the monument to the revolution in Kozara .
