Dušan Sernec (born July 8, 1882 in Marburg an der Drau , Austria-Hungary ; † February 15, 1952 in Ljubljana , SFR Yugoslavia ) was a Yugoslav politician, Ban of the Drava and 1945 imperial administrator of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia .

Sernec was born as the 12th child of the lawyer and politician Janko Sernec in Marburg an der Drau . After finishing high school in Marburg, he completed military service in Prague . There he also studied mechanical engineering (diploma in 1905) and completed further studies in electrical engineering in Grenoble , Paris and Karlsruhe .

From 1906 to 1913 he worked for the Allgemeine Elektricitätsgesellschaft in Vienna , Trieste and Laibach . From 1913 to 1922 Sernec was director of the newly founded state electricity company Krain. In 1923 Sernec became a lecturer in electrical installations at the Technical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana , in 1925 a member of the Slovenian People's Party (SLS), in 1926 associate professor and in 1927 Minister of Construction. On October 9, 1929, Sernec Ban of the Drau bank, in 1930 Minister of Forestry and Mining, and again Minister of Construction in 1931, after which he separated from the SLS and resigned.

After the occupation of Yugoslavia in 1941, Sernec became one of the first politicians to join the Slovenian Liberation Front and became a member of the Supreme Plenary . He was captured during the Christmas raid in 1942, but released shortly afterwards. In September 1943 he fled to liberated areas. At the second AVNOJ conference in November 1943 he was entrusted with the finance department. After King Peter II's abdication , he took over the post of Imperial Administrator together with Srđan Budisavljević and Ante Mandić until the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia was proclaimed .

Sernec spent his last years in Ljubljana.
