Duane Jones (actor)
Duane L. Jones (born February 2, 1937 in New York , New York , † July 22, 1988 in Mineola, Long Island , New York ) was an American actor . He was best known for his role Ben in the horror film The Night of the Living Dead (1968) by George A. Romero .
He became the first African American lead actor in a horror film who was not selected for his skin color.
In addition to his work as a film actor, he was mainly active as an English professor and artistic director in various universities and theaters in the USA.
