Duchesne is a place and the administrative seat of Duchesne County in the state of Utah .
geography
The site covers an area of 6.0 km² (2.3 mi²). Duchesne is located at the confluence of the Strawberry Rivers and the Duchesne Rivers in the Uinta Basin in northeast Utah .
history
The entire land of Duchesne County and West Uintah County was formerly the land of the Ute Indians and part of their reservation. The dealer AM Murdock received an order from the administration to build a post office. This is how Duchesne came into being; it got its name from the nearby Duchesne River . On January 1, 1915, the eastern portion of Wasatch County was separated and became Duchesne County . The county residents voted for Duchesne City as the new county seat.
