Duiveland was a municipality in the Dutch province of Zeeland . It was formed on January 1, 1961 by the union of the three municipalities Nieuwerkerk , Oosterland and Ouwerkerk . The administrative seat was in Nieuwerkerk. On January 1, 1997, it was merged with Brouwershaven , Bruinisse , Westerschouwen , Middenschouwen and Zierikzee to form the new municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland . A year before it was dissolved, the community had 5,802 inhabitants (as of January 1, 1996).
