Dum Dum Girls is an American garage rock band from Los Angeles .
history
Dum Dum Girls was founded in 2008 by Kristin Whichz alias Dee Dee as a solo project. The name is a reference to the Iggy pop song Dum Dum Boys and the Vaseline's debut album Dum-Dum . Whichz made a number of solo recordings and received so much attention that she was signed to the Sub Pop record label in 2009 . She recorded her debut album I Will Be , which was produced by Richard Gottehrer , on her own, but for her appearances she brought other musicians into the project such as drummer Sandy Vu, bassist Malia James and guitarist Jules Medeiros. The second album Only in Dreams was recorded as a band for the first time the following year and brought the breakthrough. It reached number one on the US Heatseeker charts and placed on the official album charts .
