Dumitru Pavlovici (born April 26, 1912 in Temesvár , Austria-Hungary , † September 28, 1993 ) was a Romanian football goalkeeper . He played 176 games in the highest Romanian soccer league, Divizia A , and took part in the 1938 World Cup.

Career

Pavlovici began his career in his hometown Timișoara with Dacia. In 1933 he moved to local rivals Ripensia , which was one of the most successful Romanian clubs in the 1930s. At Ripensia Pavlovici became a regular player and celebrated his debut in the top Romanian division, Divizia A , on June 24, 1934 . During the eight years that he remained loyal to Ripensia, he was able to win three championships and one cup with the club.

In 1941 Pavlovici left Ripensia and switched to CFR Turnu Severin . Since the game operation of Divizia A had been interrupted due to the Second World War, he was only used in the transition championship ( Bessarabia Cup ) and in the Romanian Cup , which he was able to win again in 1943 .

After the war ended, Pavlovici returned to Timişoara in 1946 and played for CFR Timişoara , which was the only club in the city to be divided into the re-established Divizia A. In 1948 he reached the runner- up with CFR behind ITA Arad and was thus involved in the club's greatest success. After the 1951 season, Pavlovici ended his career at the age of 39.

National team

Pavlovici played 15 games for the Romanian national football team . He made his debut on May 17, 1936 against Greece . His greatest success in the national jersey was participation in the 1938 World Cup in France , where he was used in the first game against Cuba .
