geography
Dunbar is eight kilometers west of Charleston and 35 kilometers north of Madison . The Kanawha River limits the place in the south. The Interstate-64 highway runs right through town.
history
The area was originally inhabited by Indians . The first settlers initially operated agriculture and viticulture . Glass and bottle manufacturing factories were also built later. The place was named after the lawyer and banker Dunbar Baines. According to other chroniclers, the place was named after Mary Dunbar, who inherited the land from George Washington.
Today Dunbar is a quiet residential area near the metropolis Charleston and has several parks, including a. also the Wine Cellar Park , which is home to the historic Dutch Hollow Wine Cellar , which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places under the number 70000654.
