The Dunbar Head is a rocky and 200 m high headland on the northern Hillary Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It protrudes 17.5 km southeast of Mount Morning halfway between the Eastface Nunatak and the Birthday Bluffs into the Ross Ice Shelf .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the headland in 1999 after Nelia W. Dunbar (* 1962) from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro , New Mexico , who carried out geological studies on Mount Erebus , in the Allan Hills , on Mount Takahe and in had operated the Crary Mountains .
