The Durack River is a river in the Kimberley region in the northeast of the Australian state of Western Australia .
geography
The river rises at the southern end of the Durack Ranges and then flows north along the western side of the Blue Face Ranges . West of the ghost town of Durack River , it crosses under the Gibb River Road and turns its course to the northeast. Shortly before the confluence of the Pentecost River in the west arm of the Cambridge Gulf , the Durack River flows into the Pentecost River.

Origin of name
The river was named in 1882 by surveyor John Pentecost after the Kimberley pioneer Michael Durack . He was the chief of Pentecost and the first European to cross the river.
