Duster Bennett
Anthony "Duster" Bennett (born September 23, 1946 in Welshpool , Powys , Mid Wales , † March 26, 1976 in Warwickshire ) was a British blues musician. He played as a one- man band by beating the drum with one foot, playing the harmonica on a rack and playing his guitar. This mixture was compelling and unique, so that he was a welcome guest in the blues clubs.
Career
His career began at the art school in Kingston upon Thames and Guildford . In his live performances he combined his own compositions in the style of Jimmy Reed with blues standards. He was often supported by his friends Peter Green and Top Topham . In the early 1960s, he also played the harmonica often as a session musician . In 1970 he became a member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and went on tour with them in America. After appearing with Memphis Slim , he drove home, fell asleep on the steering wheel, and collided with a truck, killing him.
