Robert Clyde "Dutch" Holland (born October 12, 1903 in Middlesex , North Carolina , † June 16, 1967 in Lumberton , North Carolina) was an American baseball player in Major League Baseball (MLB) on the position of outfielders .

Career

Holland attended North Carolina State University , where he played college baseball from 1923 to 1925. He made his MLB debut at the age of 28 in the jersey of the Boston Braves on August 16, 1932 against the Chicago Cubs . In the game he played in leftfield and had a hit and a run Batted In (RBI). The Braves lost the game 3 to 4. In 1932 he made a total of 39 games for the Braves and had 46 hits with a batting average of .295. A year later he ran only 13 times for Boston in the MLB before they exchanged him on May 11, 1933 for Joe Mowry to the Cleveland Indians . With the Seattle Indians, a farm team of the Cleveland Indians, made 130 games in the Double-A . 1934 was to be his last year in the MLB and he made his last game on August 10, 1934 at the age of 31 against the Detroit Tigers . In this game he played in leftfield and had a hit and a strikeout . The Indians lost the game 5 to 6.

Holland died in mid-June 1967 at the age of 63. He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton, North Carolina .
