Harold Sebastian "Dutch" Lauer (born January 8, 1898 in Monroe , Michigan , † August 9, 1978 in Dearborn , Michigan) was an American American football player . He played in the National Football League (NFL) with the Rock Island Independents , the Green Bay Packers , the Toledo Maroons and the Detroit Panthers .

Player career

Dutch Lauer attended James Monroe High School in Detroit and studied after graduating from 1919 to 1921 at the University of Detroit Mercy , for their football team , the "Detroit Titans" , he played. Lauer was used in both the offense and defense of the Titans. During his college years, he scored 42 touchdowns in 28 games. In 1921 he was elected to the league selection. In 1922 he played as a professional for the Rock Island Independents trained by Jimmy Conzelman . During the season he moved to the Green Bay Packers. In 1923 Lauer ran for the Toledo Maroons. In 1925 he signed up with the Detroit Panthers. Here he met again on Conzelman, who owned the team. Conzelman also acted as the Panthers player-coach. With the team around the multiple all-pro player Gus Sonnenberg , Lauer was able to celebrate his greatest success in 1925: The Panthers took third place in the table after the end of the season. After a disappointing playing year in 1926, Lauer ended his career. He was inducted into the University of Detroit Mercy Athletics Hall of Fame in 1981.
