Only the conceptual approach and a place of foundation named Cody , Wyoming are public. In the presentation of the band on the Doom-Metal.com website, there is speculation about personal overlaps with the Russian Death Doom band Revelations of Rain due to stylistic similarities . Elsewhere, the origin of Ea. named place in doubt.

"EA - from Russia. Or Finland. Or America. At least the funeral doomers from EA, who are still anonymous after nine years. People have always wrapped themselves in the cloak of the digital era and still prevented the emergence of great speculation about which world-famous superstars might let off steam here. "

- Alex Klug: Review of A Etilla on metal.de

All albums were given similar-sounding titles, and the songs consistently contain lyrics in "an allegedly lost language". The volume describes the lyric poetry used as "sacred texts of ancient civilizations" which were " reproduced using a dead language " on the basis of "archaeological research". However, the conceptual approach is also questioned by reviewers and the titles and recognizable text passages used are not assigned to any known language. In further discussions, the texts are judged to be incomprehensible and, as a result, irrelevant.

History and reception

Since 2006 Ea. Albums on the Russian label Solitude Productions . Appearances, interviews or publications in other formats such as singles, EPs or compilations never stopped. All of the group's publications were received internationally and mostly received positively. The group was awarded a “talent for atmosphere and intensity”.

style

The music of Ea. is assigned to the Funeral Doom. For the Doom-Metal.com website, the form of play presented by the group is described as "accessible but still deep" and as a "melodic and majestic" variant. Comparisons are made to Shape of Despair and Reclusiam . As further benchmarks, reviewers use various genre representatives of Funeral Doom and Death Doom , including Colosseum , Dead in the Water , Remembrance , Ahab , Septic Mind , Abstract Spirit , Monoliths , Worship , Thergothon and Mornful Congregation .

According to Funeral Doom, the music is often associated with monotony . Taking up this point of criticism, contrary to the group's support, the Ea. Funeral presented was "surprisingly varied".

“Slow motion drumming meets swirling keyboard carpets, meets filigree piano interludes, angelic choirs, roaring power chords and time and again a crystal clear lead guitar that plays anything but technically demanding, but melodically really moving solos . Then strings come along, at the end EA bring in a real church organ , it all sounds sacred, apocalyptic but also somehow hopeful, very emotional [.] "
