The District Courthouse and Police Station (also known as the East Hawaii Cultural Center (EHCC)) is now a cultural center in Hilo on the island of Hawaii in the American state of Hawaii . The EHCC was founded in 1967 and is administered by the East Hawaiʻi Cultural Council , an umbrella organization for local arts associations. The focus of the EHCC is on the presentation of traditional and contemporary local art and culture. It is visited by around 20,000 people annually.

The EHCC building, erected in 1932, housed a district court and a police station before it was used by the cultural center. The building is located on Kalākaua Street by Kalākaua Park and is also known as the Old Police Station . It was restored in 1974 and added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on September 4, 1979, making it a listed building.

The EHCC comprises three galleries that display local, national and international art. There is also a stage room with over 100 seats, an art studio and a dance floor. Summer performances by the Hilo Community Players of plays by Shakespeare take place on the building's balcony . The EHCC organizes and sponsors other exhibitions and events in addition to its own activities, such as the Big Island Slack Key Guitar Festival , which has been held annually since 1989 .

In 2002, an exhibition of digital art by 24 artists from 21 countries took place at the EHCC , who then showed their pictures on a “digital surf tour”.
