East La Mirada is a census-designated place (CDP) in Los Angeles County in the US state of California , United States . In 2000 it had 9535 inhabitants.

Demographics
At the time of the United States Census 2000, East La Mirada was inhabited by 9538 people. The population density was 3317.7 people per km ². There were 3382 housing units at an average of 1176.4 per km ². The population of East La Mirada was 75.29% White , 1.79% Black or African American , 0.77% Native American , 3.65% Asian , 0.14% Pacific Islander , 13.48% said belonging to other races and 4.89% named two or more races. 38.16% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of East La Mirada were distributed to 3321 households out of which 36.7% were living in children under the age of 18. 58.1% of households were married, 12.0% had a female head of household without a husband, and 25.3% were not families. 19.8% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 8.6% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.32 people.
The population was divided into 27.5% minors, 9.2% 18–24 year olds, 30.0% 25–44 year olds, 20.8% 45–64 year olds and 12.5% aged 65 years or more. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 women there were 94.6 men. For every 100 women over 18, there were 91.3 men.
