East Hemet is a census-designated place (CDP) in Riverside County in the US state of California . In 2010 the place had 17,418 inhabitants. It is located outside the Hemet city limits .

East Hemet is located west of Riverside County in the US state of California . The municipality borders on Hemet in the west and north , on Valle Vista in the northeast and otherwise exclusively on non- parish area. A little to the southwest is the Diamond Valley Lake . California State Route 74 forms the northern boundary of the town .
According to the United States Census Bureau , the CDP has a total area of 13.502 km², which is made up entirely of land. With a population of 17,418, the population density is 1290 inhabitants per square kilometer. The center of the village is at an altitude of 515 m.
Demographics
At the time of the 2000 United States Census, East Hemet was inhabited by 14,823 people. The population density was 1777.4 people per km ². There were 5064 housing units at an average of 607.2 per km². The East Hemet population was 80.04% white , 1.54% black or African American , 1.42% Native American , 1.04% Asian , 0.09% Pacific Islander , and 11.89% said other races belong to and 3.99% named two or more races. 24.91% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of East Hemet distributed to 4831 households out of which 42.4% were living in children under 18 years of age. 57.7% of households were married, 15.1% had a female head of the household without a husband and 21.6% were not families. 17.4% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 7.9% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 3.03 and the average family size was 3.38 people.
The population was divided into 32.8% minors, 8.5% 18–24 year olds, 26.1% 25–44 year olds, 19.8% 45–64 year olds and 12.8% aged 65 and over or more. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 women there were 94.4 men. For every 100 women over the age of 18, there were 89.5 men.
The median household income in East Hemet was 39,828 US dollars and the median family income reached the amount of 42,356 US dollars. The median income for men was $ 34,500 compared with $ 24,493 for women. The per capita income was $ 15,486. 17.1% of the population and 13.4% of families had an income below the poverty line , including 22.4% of minors and 8.0% of those aged 65 and over.

East Hemet is part of the 23rd District in the California Senate , currently represented by Republican Bill Emmerson , and the 67th District of the California State Assembly , represented by Republican Melissa Melendez . East Hemet is also part of California's 36th Congressional District , which has a Cook Partisan Voting Index of R + 1 and is represented by Democrat Raul Ruiz .
