Whitewater is a census-designated place in Riverside County in the US state of California . The place has 859 inhabitants (as of 2010). It's just off Interstate 10 , which connects Los Angeles to Palm Springs . Whitewater is best known for the San Gorgonio Pass Wind Farm .
The community owes its name to the Whitewater River .
geography
Whitewater is located in the northern part of Riverside County , California . Located between the San Bernardino Mountains and San Jacinto Mountains , the wind is almost constant; The reason for this is the Venturi effect . This results in good site conditions for wind farms .
With 859 inhabitants (as of the 2010 census ) and an area of 25.6 km², which is almost entirely made up of land, the population density is only 33.6 inhabitants per square kilometer. The town center is at an altitude of 480 meters above sea level .

Whitewater is part of the 28th District in the California Senate , currently represented by Democrat Ted W. Lieu .
