Mecca is located in the southern, central part of Riverside County in the US state of California . The village belongs to the Coachella Valley and does not border directly on other places, but there are Thermal , Oasis and Coachella nearby . Towards the southeast, the Salton Sea follows shortly after the municipal boundaries .

To the west, California State Route 111 runs through Mecca in a north-south direction .

The place has 8,577 inhabitants (as of the 2010 census ). Mecca covers an area of ​​18,023 km², which consists entirely of land; the population density is thus 475.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. Movie

The place plays in the film The Wild Angels by Roger Corman in 1966 an important role, contributing actors were Peter Fonda , Nancy Sinatra and Bruce Dern .
