history

Originally, the land around what is now Woodcrest was settled by grain farmers in the late 19th century. In 1894 the population had grown so high that a separate school was opened for the area.

In 1905 the land was divided for the first time, so that the Oak Glen Tract was created. In April 1924 the district of House Heights was formed, followed by Fertile Acres in May and Woodcrest Acres in February 1926. Later in 1926 the first post office for the area was established; this also got the name Woodcrest . Although the post office closed again in 1936, the name Woodcrest was used for the land from then on.

With the establishment of the Western Municipal Water District in 1955 by voters in Riverside , Corona, and Lake Elsinore , water also became cheaper for residents of the areas around Woodcrest. The residents began to diversify agriculture. Although fruit growing in Riverside became less, it now expanded in Woodcrest.

Agriculture also declined in Woodcrest in the 1980s. The reasons for this were the higher population density and the availability of cheaper land. Today most of the orange plantations have given way to further development. The citrus industry that made the founding of Riverside and the surrounding communities possible has now almost completely disappeared.
