Eatliz ( Hebrew אטליז, German: Metzgerei) is an Israeli alternative rock band. It was founded in 2001.

history

Four years after the band was founded and after a few line-up changes, Eatliz released their debut album Violently Delicate in November 2007; an EP called Delicately Violent with leftover pieces originally written for this album and a cover version of Björk's Army of Me was released in 2009. Then Eatliz went back to the studio and worked on the second album. These recordings lasted until 2010, and Teasing Nature was finally released in December of the same year.

At the beginning of 2012 singer Lee Triffon left Eatliz due to artistic differences, in July 2012 the departure of guitarist Amit Erez was announced, who from then on wanted to concentrate on his solo career. As a replacement, Sivan Abelson (vocals) and Omer Hershman (guitar) became new band members. This line-up worked on the band's third album until 2013, which was finally released in June 2014 under the name All of it . An Indiegogo campaign was launched to finance it .

Style and reception

The band itself describes her style as "complicated pop" ( complicated Pop ). She herself names bands like The Mars Volta and Mr. Bungle , but also Björk and Portishead as influences. Critics sometimes place their music between the Stolen Babies and No Doubt . With the second album Teasing Nature , the metal influences were reduced a little, but the general variety of styles in the music of Eatliz remained unchanged.

Successes and dissemination

Although Eatliz have not yet made it into the charts, they also reached a larger audience in Germany with their appearance at Popkomm 2008 and the first single Attractive , which was played on Radio Fritz among others , from their debut album. The animated videos for the singles Hey and Attractive have received multiple awards.

In the run-up to the release of the second regular studio album, the band put their debut Violently Delicate on the Internet for free and distributed it via viral marketing via numerous weblogs.
