Ebba Hult De Geer (born June 2, 1882 in Rödeby [ Karlskrona municipality ] as Ebba Hult ; died July 28, 1969 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish geologist .

Live and act

After graduating from Anna Sandström's teacher training college ( Anna Sandström's Högre lärarinneseminarium ) in 1902, Ebba Hult De Geer worked as a teacher at the Risbergska girls' school in Örebro until 1904 and at the private school Whitlockska samskolan in Stockholm from 1904 to 1907 . From 1906 to 1908 she studied at Stockholm University - u. a. with Gerard Jakob De Geer , whom she married in 1908. She worked as a research assistant and in 1943 became director of the geochronological institute. De Geer traveled to Spitzbergen in 1910 and to North America in 1920 .

Ebba Hult De Geer became known for her geochronological and paleoclimatological research. In collaboration with her husband Gerard de Geer, she used clay deposits in the glacial lakes as an indicator of the climate of the geological past and examined similar deposits around the world in order to create a global climate history . The late- Quaternary Swedish timescale that she and her husband created was the most accurate to date.
