Eberhard Grashoff

Eberhard Grashoff (born February 11, 1928 in Berlin ; † March 20, 2020 there ) was a German journalist .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1947, Grashoff studied history, German and journalism at the Humboldt University and at the Free University in Berlin . In 1948 he became a member of the SPD . From 1947 to 1952 and from 1991 to 2000 he was also active in democratic youth work. He was a co-founder of the " Democratic Youth Association of Berlin " (DJV), of which he was chairman from 1949 to 1952, member and temporarily chairman (1948) of the first " Landesjugendring Berlin ". In 1951 he was co-founder of the “ Wannseeheim for Youth Work eV ”, in 1992 co-founder of the “Schloss Trebnitz Education and Meeting Center”. He went to the SPD-affiliated daily Telegraf , became editor, head of the service and was editor-in-chief from 1970 until the paper was closed in June 1972. From 1977 he worked as a press officer for the representative of the federal government in Berlin.

From 1980 to 1990 he was spokesman for the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the GDR . From 1990 to 1993 he was head of the press and information office of the state government of Brandenburg . In 1991 he was co-initiator of Aktion Friedenswald, which planted peace forests in Seelow (Germany), Górzyca (Poland), Brest (Belarus) and Moscow (Russia) until 1995 in memory of the dead of World War II .
