Eberhard Griepentrog

Eberhard Griepentrog (* 1933 in Schmiedeberg in the Giant Mountains , Lower Silesia Province ) is a German mathematician and university professor .

Life

Griepentrog studied mathematics at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1952 to 1957 .

After completing his studies, he worked from 1957 to 1966 as the scientific director of the data center of the VEB Atomkraftwerk .

In 1966 he returned to the Humboldt University of Berlin as a research assistant. There he received his doctorate in 1969 with a dissertation on the Padé method for the numerical integration of linear differential equation systems with constant coefficients . From 1972 Griepentrog worked as a lecturer at the Berlin Humboldt University. In 1974 he completed his habilitation there with a thesis on the topic of multi-step methods for the numerical integration of ordinary differential equation systems and asymptotic accuracy Digital simulation of the transition behavior of non-linear electrical networks with Gunter Schwarze .

In 1976, Griepentrog was appointed full professor at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald . From 1980 to 1986 he was director of the mathematics section there.

For the period after 1986 there is no reliable biographical information on Griepentrog's further career. According to the address directory of a conference report, he is said to have been employed at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences in 1995 .

Griepentrog's main topic was the numerical solution of differential equations .
